Framing your Artwork

With more works on paper, panels, and giclee prints coming to the shop I wanted to offer you some options on ways to frame your artwork. I have found it is much easier and more affordable for us and you to ship artwork without frames. Plus there are so many great framing options out there now to fit your style and budget!

So where to start with frames?

Define your style, aesthetic and your budget. I think it helps to define the age and style of your home or just the aesthetic you are drawn to in your space. Do you like modern and sleek frames or more ornate and detailed gilded frames? If you have no idea, you can browse online or look at a local gallery to find your style.

Custom framing can be very expensive often times more expensive than the actual artwork! Look for artwork with standard sizes to help stay within your budget. When creating pieces, I often try to stick to standard sizes knowing it will be easier for customers to frame (8”x10”, 9”x12”, 11”x14” 8”x8”, 16”x20”20”x24” etc)

How to Frame works on Paper

Paper needs a little more protection than canvases and panels. You can find affordable custom frames with both glass and acrylic protective layers or pre-made frames. Here are some of my favorite sources for artwork on paper. I also love to search garage, estate and consignment stores for frames.

For a non-traditional look, I love PAPER CLIPS, MODERN ACRYLIC FRAMES, or FRAME BARS to hold your prints or works on paper. Browse more links below.

Frames for Canvases and Panels

We often create works on canvas or panels that are wrapped or have a “frame” or depth to them already. If you are looking for a more finalized look, you can add a floater frame in wood or metal.
