The essence of being and creating unfolds in the spaces between. What if instead of rushing to fill these gaps, we embraced the opportunity to truly experience them? It is within these interstices that we can simply exist
In this exhibition, I dive into the realms of time and space, both in my life and through visual expression. This body of work captures those moments that ground me in the present. I aimed for an ethereal and moody atmospheric feel in these landscapes. I selected oil paints for their ability to blend and create soft transitions. By employing expressive brushstrokes and contrasting skylines, I sought to dissolve the boundary between the earthly and the otherworldly.

The warmth of the sun in winter. The stillness creates room for creativity, while the landscape presents both openness and striking contrasts from the extended shadows of winter. In this collection, I utilize inks and washes to capture the essence of the winter season and its significance to me as an individual and artist. Held by the Sun. The golden glow landing on the tree above, the gravity that holds the planets in orbit, the beams that land on my face in the midst of winter; the sun provides us a new opportunity each day. What we do with the light is our choice. Through these abstract landscapes, I find the moments of light in my life figuratively and literally. A reminder each day of how the sun holds us together with its soft gold touch.

“Lances of sunshine that pierce the canopy of a wood”
There is no better connection to the present moment for me then stepping into nature. Through this year, I have been finding more outlets to still my mind and be right here in this exact moment. When I sit under a canopy of trees, I closely examine the light beams as the sun moves in the sky. The light pierces the leaves and branches then quickly disappears without a trace. They create these organic forms of shadow and light creating radiant patterns above. The sky and tress have this unpredictable rhythm that mimics our own lives. Through this exhibit, I grasp onto these deeper connections to nature illuminating my own energy and rhythms through abstract expression.
