The Art of Curiosity
I feel like I am at the point I can no longer simply observe. While observation is so valuable, curiosity is where the action lies. Curiosity drives you to create, transforming an inspiring vision board into actual artwork that resonates with your soul. Don’t get me wrong, I love curating, gathering elements for vision boards, and continuing to take classes but at some point I needed to put my observations into action.
In a time where our attention can be consumed by so many distractions we need to place a concious effort into creating more and consuming less. And I think when we find things we are interested in, we are more likely to want to create and consume less.
So what does curiosity look like in our art practices? To me, it resembles the carefree nature of childhood. I witness this in how my kids simply exist. They instinctively play, create, and experiment, diving into new experiences with minimal guidance and discovering joy effortlessly. Not only does our art style emerge when we follow our curiosity but we learn more about ourselves and the world around us in the process. Once we find things we are curious about ideas can be put into motion.
We all possess this beautiful curiosity inherently. As adults, we might lose some of this playful freedom amid the demands of life but I believe we can always reconnect with it. Art serves as a wonderful outlet for our curious spirit. By following what feels right, we can embark on uncharted paths.

October Art Curiosities
The seasonal colors transition from the bright, lively shades of autumn leaves to the rich, subdued tones that accompany the colder months. I’m particularly captivated by the jewel tone trends in interior design, especially when they are combined with natural materials. Lately, I’ve been drawn to moody landscapes, quick sketches in black or sienna, expansive and ethereal sky scenes, along with deep and expressive florals. I find myself increasingly embracing thick impasto layers of paint enhanced with glazing techniques. I also revived my curiosity journal, where I sketch and note anything that piques my interest. What is taking over your art practice lately? What are your curiosities
Current Reads
My bedside table is stacked with books, and I must confess, I tend to read multiple books at once. My aim is to finish them before moving on to the next few! These books seem to be seeping to my art pracitce: Slowing, Letters to a Starseed, You Already Know, and Mind Magic.
Decluttering of Spaces
I always feel rejuvenated when I declutter my spaces, making way for new possibilities. I engage in this practice both at home and digitally. Recently, I even reorganized my Pinterest board to welcome new musings. I've transitioned from creating monthly digital vision boards to a seasonal approach. This small change has given me more time and space for ideas to develop and for creating.
